Sheffield Kenshinkan Aikido Club

We are an aikido club training in a Shodokan style of Aikido in the heart of Sheffield

Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morehei Ueshiba sensei in the 1920's based on eary Japanese marcial arts such as Aiki-jujutsu and Jikishinkage-ryu that he had studied. It can be used for self defence, and aims not to use lethal force against an attacker.

The word can be split into three pieces:

Ai means "harmony"
Ki means "energy, or spirit"
Do means "the way, or path"

Aikido is studied and practiced by people of all genders and ages.

Practice is open to beginners as well as experienced Aikidoka (a Japanese term for a practitioner of the martial art Aikido), the details of training times are available here.

Kenshinkan Aikido Club is a member of Shodokan Aikido UK which is part of the British Aikido Board (BAB) the governing body recognized by the sports council for Aikido in the UK
